Express Scripts

Prescription Drug Benefits

As a reminder, if you enrolled in the UNM Medical Plan through either Lovelace or Presbyterian, you were automatically enrolled in Express Scripts for your prescription drug benefits. You should have received a separate card from Express Scripts. If you have not received a card, you can call Express Scripts Customer Service at 1-800-232-6549 to request another card.

Here are a few points to clarify some confusion about how Express Scripts administers UNM's prescription drug benefits.

• Express Scripts is contracted with over 50,000 pharmacies nationally. You are able to receive prescriptions from many retail pharmacies such as Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and other contracted pharmacies. The process is almost identical to our previous carriers. Please provide your Express Scripts card to your pharmacy when filling prescriptions.

Note: All cards will have the primary person’s name – dependents will not receive cards in their names.

• You also have the option to use Express Scripts mail-order pharmacy, which you can set up either at www.express-scripts.com or by calling Express Scripts Customer Service at 1-800-232-6549. By using the mail-order service, you may be able to save money on your prescriptions.

• Express Scripts provides online access as a resource for you to check co-pay amounts, view the formulary, and utilize mail-order benefits. Visit www.express-scripts.com . Information was sent with your ID cards explaining how to activate your online benefits. This information provides instructions on how to access Express Scripts online, but it is not necessary for you to register to activate your benefits.
