One-Time Pay Equity Supplement

On October 11, 2011, the Board of Regents approved a one-time pay equity supplement of $950 for regular faculty and staff who make less than $50,000.  The supplement amount of $950 will be prorated based on an employee’s appointment percentage as of November 18, 2011, and it cannot result in an employee’s salary exceeding $49,999. For example, a full-time employee who makes $49,500 will receive $499.

Eligible employees are those who have been in an active status with continuous employment since January 1, 2010, and they must remain active until the last pay period in December 2011.  The one-time pay equity supplement will be included on non-bargaining unit employee, as well as United Staff-UNM (US-UNM), Communications Workers of America (CWA), and the Police Officers Association (POA) bargaining unit staff paychecks on December 22, 2011.

The Educational Retirement Board has made a determination that the one-time pay equity supplement is not considered “salary.”  Therefore, it is not subject to ERB contribution (pursuant to Section 22-11-21), and it is precluded from being used to calculate benefits that the ERB will pay.
