Position Classification Review Steering Committee

Progress Update

Although the current global economic downturn remains a challenge to our institution as well as to the community in general, UNM is continuing to look strategically toward the future. In this regard, the University has adopted a “Vision Statement for the Compensation of UNM Staff Employees.”

This statement of the University's overarching philosophies and principles governing total compensation policies for staff employees is the first of a series of outcomes, to also include a staff position classification review, that will address the President's strategic goal of developing a comprehensive and competitive total compensation plan for all UNM employees.

All University policies and procedures pertaining to staff total compensation (including salaries, benefits, and work-life arrangements) will be reviewed to ensure that they are consistent with the provisions contained in this statement.

We would like to take this opportunity to express sincere gratitude to the members of the Position Classification Review Steering Committee commissioned by President Schmidly to support the staff classification review, whose guidance and leadership have been critical to the creation of this document.
