EHPP Lifesteps® Weight Management Program

When looking for a weight management solution, there are many things you should consider. The most comprehensive programs are based on researched nutrition principles, incorporate fitness, and include behavior changes. Without all of these components, successful weight loss decreases.

Lifesteps® focuses on changing behaviors that prevent weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Participants are responsible for developing their own personal action plan in this program. This isn't a "one size fits all" program, and there is no "diet" to follow. Your plan follows your life.

Lifesteps® incorporates 16 weekly small group sessions of 45-60 minutes, at pre-set times and locations, for group discussion, problem solving, behavior change activities, as well as topics on nutrition and physical activity. Groups consist of up to 18 people with a trained EHPP leader who is the change facilitator providing information, support, and guidance.

EHPP's next Lifesteps® program starts February 2012. The cost for the program is $130. UNM employees may use tuition remission.

Participants who would like to register for the program must commit to attending all meetings held each week.

Before registering for these sessions, prospective participants can learn more about the Lifesteps® program by attending a mandatory orientation session.

EHPP is holding two orientation sessions. At these sessions, interested individuals will have the option of signing up for a one-on-one interview with the leader to assess readiness to change, willingness to do key activities such as recording daily food intake and participating in regular physical activity, current health status, and weight loss history. Prospective participants must attend an orientation session and sign up for one-on-one interview and registration session with the session leader. Attending an orientation session does not obligate you to join the program.

What is it?

Get Fit on Route 66

Get Fit on Route 66 is EHPP's spring 2012 physical activity program. This program allows you to translate each minute of your physical activity into a fun and memorable trip from Chicago to Santa Monica. For each minute of activity you virtually travel two miles along the Mother Road. No special equipment required and whatever your favorite activity is, it counts!

Each day you record how much time you spend engaged in any type of physical activity. From the "seat of your car," you see the road and dashboard, complete with gauges. You also see your car positioned on a map, marking your current location. As you arrive at each new location, you see a short history and interesting facts about the area and a link to the city's website. Traveling on Route 66 is not only healthy; it's fun and educational, too.

Cost

$25 per participant - UNM benefits-eligible employees, and they may use tuition remission. All other participants are $35 each. Acceptable forms of payment are cash or checks made out to "EHPP."
