Professional Development Series 2013

Sign Up Today

The Professional Development Series certification is a “build your own” professional certificate. You choose the courses from the curricula, and you choose the time that you are able to take those courses.

You can continue to develop and learn new skills while networking with other staff across campus. Courses are scheduled during the day, allowing you to make them a part of your workweek. Professional Development Series courses are free – no tuition remission is required.

Congratulations 2012 Passport to Leadership Participants

Upcoming Information Sessions for Passport to Leadership 2013

Congratulations to the ten UNM managers and leaders who completed the 2012 Passport to Leadership certificate program.  An additional fourteen participants declared commitment to the program and are in the process of completing their Passport Certification.  Eighty-seven UNM leaders have completed the Passport to Leadership program since its inception in 2009.

Professional Development Series Certificate

Courses Start January 2013

The UNM Professional Development Series Certificate is a self-paced, personalized development program designed for UNM staff. The program offers two tracks: 

• Organizational Effectiveness
• Personal Effectiveness

Organizational Effectiveness courses will give you what you need to be industrious – working smarter and getting more done with less effort and stress. 

Personal Effectiveness courses are designed to empower participants with the insights and proven tools to improve their working relationships.

2012 University-Wide Required Training

The 2012 University-Wide Required training has been loaded to all staff and faculty learning plans.  The following are the 2012 courses; however, many employees may have additional training that is required. 

• Preventing Sexual Harassment 2012
• Basic Annual Safety Training 2012
• Ethics: A Framework for Ethical Decision Making 2012

Although employees have until the end of the year to complete the training, we encourage employees to complete all the required training as soon as possible.  

The 2012 training will no longer be accessible after December 31, 2012, which occurs during Winter Break. To ensure that you complete your training on time, it is recommended that all employees take the training courses by Friday, December 21, 2012.

Employee Learning Week 2012

Employee & Organizational Development (EOD) is pleased to announce Employee Learning Week, December 4-7, 2012.

The American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) created Employee Learning Week as an opportunity for organizations to demonstrate their commitment to employee learning, and to emphasize the connection between a highly skilled workforce and organizational results.

Our monthly Training Calendar highlights several professional and leadership development courses to help you polish your skills. We also offer custom training to meet individual department needs. Learning Central Upgrade

A recent upgrade to Learning Central has enhanced the look, feel, and functionality of the site. There are tip sheets available on the Learning Central home page to guide you through the new system.

Please note that this upgrade has also caused a change in the URL for Learning Central, so links in previous documents or bookmarks will be rendered ineffective.

Learning Central Downtime

May 18 – May 20, 2012

Learning Central will be unavailable Friday, May 18 at 1:00 pm through Sunday, May 20 at 8:00 pm. The purpose of this extended outage is to install a critical upgrade to the latest version of the system, which will improve functionality and security.  Users will notice a new look and feel when logging into Learning Central after the upgrade.  User guides will be available to help navigate the updated system.  Thank you for your patience.  For questions, contact Employee and Organizational Development at 277-1555.

Passport to Leadership Certification

Celebrating Success

Introduced in April of 2009, the Passport to Leadership Certification program was created by Employee and Organizational Development (EOD) as a practical build-your-own program approach to leadership development.
