The Division of Human Resources is pleased to provide an update on the Fiscal Year 2027 Mass Salary Update (MSU) process and the salary increases approved for eligible staff employees. On March 17 the Board of Regents approved FY27 salary increases for eligible faculty and staff. Eligible staff employees will receive at least a 1% salary increase, with departments permitted to provide additional increases based on available funding and established criteria. For more information, please review the FY27 MSU Guidelines.
Consistent with Human Resources’ standard practice, the Staff Salary Structure has also been adjusted to reflect the FY27 MSU increase.
For employees represented by a bargaining unit, annual salary increases are subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement and must be negotiated with the respective union. Negotiations with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) were completed, and the agreement was ratified by members on May 25. Negotiations with the Police Officers Association (POA) were also completed, and the agreement was ratified by members on May 29.
Negotiations with United Staff–UNM (US-UNM) were completed, and the agreement was ratified by members on July 13.
For more information, please Human Resources’ Staff Unions Overview.
For eligible staff employees, including those represented by CWA and POA, the FY27 salary increase is effective July 1. Employees will see the increase reflected in their paychecks as follows:
Eligible US-UNM employees will receive their negotiated salary increase effective July 11, which will be reflected in their July 31st paycheck for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
We appreciate the contributions of our staff and the important work they perform in support of the University’s mission. For questions regarding the FY27 MSU process please contact HR Compensation at comp@unm.edu.
