False Accusations
Both men and women sometimes attempt to file false claims of discrimination or harassment. Their reasons are many: psychological problems, the desire to get back at a manager or co-worker or gain status among peers, the attempt to earn money in a lawsuit, or perhaps an attempt to protect their jobs if they are performing poorly.
False claims -- those not made in good faith -- can lead to serious discipline and financial liability for the accuser.
Once sexual harassment has been reported, the school is obligated to investigate all claims, including accusations that later turn out to be false.
