On Nov. 15, a federal judge in the Eastern District of Texas struck down the FLSA overtime rule that was set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025. This rule would have required many employees, including those in grade 11 and 12 exempt roles and certain part-time positions in grade 13 and above, to transition to non-exempt status. Additionally, the judge rescinded the salary threshold increase that took effect on July 1, 2024, keeping the FLSA salary threshold at $684 per week to maintain exempt status.
Due to the court's decision, the changes planned for January will no longer take place, including, changes to UNM's Salary Structure, employment status, pay cycles, or timekeeping processes.
UNM Human Resources will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as needed.
