UNM offers community support through a variety of services for faculty and staff through Counseling, Assistance & Referral Services at 505.272.6868 and for students through UNM Student Health & Counseling Services at 505.277.3136 and TimelyCare. Individuals are encouraged to reach out and speak with someone if you need help.
UNM has various tools in place to help keep its community safe including LoboAlerts, LoboGuardian, Blue Light Phones and its campus safety website.
LoboAlerts
LoboAlerts is the campuswide text messaging and email system for all faculty, staff and registered students, UNM affiliates and all UNMH employees. On average, text messages are delivered 10 times faster than e-mail messages. The timing of text messages also depends on when an incident is reported, so if you see something, say something immediately. Don’t wait for someone else to do so. Time is of the essence.
LoboGuardian
LoboGuardian is a joint effort between the Office of the President, the Dean of Students, Campus Safety, the UNM Police Department, and Information Technologies. LoboGuardian is a mobile app that increases user safety by creating a virtual safety network of friends and family.
With the LoboGuardian app you can set a safety timer and status; easy access to emergency communication; and to report crime tips to the UNM Police Department. It’s a virtual blue light at your fingertips. For more information, visit LoboGuardian. An FAQ page is also available to answer specific questions.
For more information regarding UNM’s safety and emergency practices, visit the Campus Safety website and also, Campus Preparedness.
If you have any information regarding a campus incident or witness or notice any suspicious behavior, please contact the UNM Police Department at 505.277.2241.
