The University of New Mexico is upgrading its voice communication systems to replace the aging phone infrastructure, which will no longer be supported after December 2026. The new phone solution will ensure continuity of phone service, support future growth, and reduce the risk of outages.
During this replacement phase, we will be planning to replace existing services as closely as possible without adding new lines or implementing additional features. For most departments, there will be no charges for migrating to the new platform. If there are any costs associated with the migration, this will be reviewed with the department in advance of the migration.
Due to the short notice from our vendor regarding the phase-out of our current solution, this project is progressing rapidly, making timing critical.
Process
Buildings will be transitioned to the new service on a rolling basis, beginning with central and branch campus buildings. Later stages will migrate the remaining central, branch, and HSC phones. The numbers assigned to phones that are currently in use will not change.
We look forward to working with you on UNM’s new phone system.
