At the University of New Mexico, we are proud to partner with United Way of North Central New Mexico (UWNCNM) to create lasting change for individuals, children, and families across our five-county region.
Each year, UWNCNM invests more than $2 million in local organizations, directly impacting more than 650,000 people by addressing food insecurity, housing, education, healthcare, and violence prevention. It is in this way that the impact of UWNCNM is felt across every corner of our community.
The UNM Gives campaign starts on Oct. 1 will run through Nov. 30. Throughout the campaign there will be fun events like the Salsa Showdown where one faculty, staff, and student will go head-to-head to see who has the best Salsa recipe, with the winner receiving a FY25-26 parking pass!
The Change for Change initiative is a competition between UNM departments to raise the most money over four weeks. The two winning departments will win Saggio’s pizza delivered by President Stokes. There will also be biweekly prize drawings for Balloon Fiesta tickets, Isotopes tickets and merch, New Mexico Pinon Coffee, and so much more. Every person who donates to UNM Gives will be entered to win.

Even the smallest contributions ripple outward in powerful ways. A daily $5 ($1,825 a year) donation can keep the 211 Helpline updated with essential resources; a weekly donation of $10 ($520 a year) can provide families fleeing violence with safe shelter, and $15 ($390 a year) each paycheck can open doors for students by supporting career readiness or encouraging school attendance. Together, these acts of giving help create stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities across New Mexico.
