The UNM Lobo Care Clinic has started a lifestyle medicine program targeted at patients who would like support in managing chronic diseases like Rheumatological disorders, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD and Anxiety and Depression. The program will last eight weeks and intends to support patients in making healthy lifestyle changes to manage their medical condition and their quality of life.
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle Medicine focuses on evidence-based lifestyle changes to prevent, treat, and reverse chronic diseases. Our program empowers you to take control of your health through sustainable habits.
Program Highlights:
Health Assessments: Understand your current health status and set achievable goals
Nutrition Counseling: Learn how to fuel your body with the right foods
Physical Activity Plans: Get moving with customized exercise routines
Stress Management: Techniques to reduce stress and improve mental well-being
Sleep Hygiene: Tips for better sleep quality and overall health
Health Coaching: Support to help you make lasting changes

Program Details:
Group Visits: 75-minute sessions weekly for six to eight weeks, including presentations on healthy lifestyle pillars, sharing goals and group support, movement and meditation
Individual Visits: Initial visit with a Board-certified Lifestyle Medicine physician and as needed throughout the program
When: Friday mornings
Patients must attend at least six sessions to receive a program completion certificate
Location: LoboCare Clinic, 1101 Medical Arts Dr, NE, Bldg 4, Suite A, Albuquerque
Cost: Co-pays for a regular provider visit
