As flu season approaches, the University of New Mexico encourages all faculty and staff to take a proactive step in protecting their health—and that of our campus community—by getting a flu shot. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness, and getting vaccinated can help prevent medical visits, hospital stays, and deaths. Be sure to check with your doctor before getting the vaccine to make sure it suits your health needs.
Here are some options for getting the flu shot this year:
Use Your UNM Medical Plan
If you are enrolled in a UNM medical and prescription drug plan:
Free Community Flu Shot Clinics
UNMH is hosting free flu shot clinics throughout the Albuquerque metro area. These clinics are open to everyone and require no documentation or payment. The clinics are open to adults and children aged six months and older. However, please be aware that high-dose flu vaccines for those 65 and older are limited, and COVID-19 vaccines will not be offered at these events.
