Open Enrollment Period Ends May 6!
Open Enrollment (OE) is your annual opportunity to enroll in or make changes to your UNM medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance plans. OE is also your opportunity to enroll or re-enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for health care, dependent care, or both.
The 2022 Open Enrollment period ends May 6 at 11:59 p.m. Changes you make are effective July 1 for FY 23 (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023).
As an employee you only have three opportunities to make changes to your benefits enrollment:
Happy with your current benefit elections? No action is required on your part and your current benefit elections will continue for the 2022-2023 Plan Year, unless you want a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) in 2022/2023. FSAs do not roll over from one year to the next. You must enroll/re-enroll in FSA every Plan Year.
VEBA Options During Open Enrollment
Were you an active benefits-eligible employee already employed as of June 30, 2013 or hired between June 30, 2013 and June 30, 2015? Current participants of the Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA) have the opportunity to opt-out of VEBA during this Open Enrollment period.
Open Enrollment for FY23 is the only Opt-In opportunity for VEBA participants who opted out with an effective date between May 1, 2016 and May 1, 2017.
Please review the VEBA webpage for more details on these important decisions regarding access to future UNM Retiree medical and dental benefits.
