Open Enrollment is the time when Medicare-eligible retirees and employees retiring and turning age 65 before Jan. 1, 2025, can make changes to their existing Medical and Dental enrollments for themselves and their Medicare-eligible dependents.
Open Enrollment is also when Pre-65 retirees can make changes to medical enrollment for their enrolled dependents who are age 65 or older. (See page 6 of the Open Enrollment Guide)
Open Enrollment is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 21 and will be extended through Friday, Nov. 15, with plan changes effective Jan. 1, 2025. If you do not make changes during this time frame, you must wait until the next Medicare-eligible Open Enrollment or you experience a Qualifying Change in Status event.
To continue existing coverage for yourself and dependent(s) in 2025, no action is required on your part.
Packets containing a 2025 Medicare Eligible Open Enrollment Guide and a 2025 Open Enrollment Form with Instructions were mailed to all Medicare-Eligible Retirees in October, prior to Open Enrollment. If you did not receive the mailed Open Enrollment materials or have questions, email Benefits & Employee Wellness at hrbenefits@unm.edu or call your Benefits Representative at the number below, according to the first letter of the Retiree’s last name.
If you wish to make changes to your existing 2024 coverage, follow the instructions provided in the Open Enrollment packet mailed to you, or in the Guide, Instructions & Form linked on this webpage.
Following annual Open Enrollment, we recommend you contact the Bursar’s Office at 505.277.5363 to ensure your Automatic Bill Payment is set up correctly to allow for your Jan. 1 premium increases.
