Performance Review Philosophy and Policy
Purpose
The purpose of the annual performance review process is to encourage ongoing communication between a manager and an employee, to facilitate better working relationships, to establish performance expectations for the year, to assist employees in reaching their optimal performance, and to contribute to professional development.
Benefits of a Performance Review
The annual performance review process should be a beneficial and positive experience for both employee and manager. This is a chance for the manager to provide recognition for work well done and to also point out where there were problems with the employee’s performance over the past year. All employees need constructive feedback on their performance.
