UNM Human Resources is launching a new Staff Hiring Incentive Program (HIP) on Nov. 1, designed to attract top-tier talent to critical and hard-to-fill staff positions across campus. This initiative marks an important step toward strengthening UNM’s position as a competitive and attractive employer in New Mexico and nationally. By investing in strategic talent acquisition, the university is reinforcing its commitment to long-term workforce stability and excellence.
The program will enable hiring departments to offer and promote one-time incentive payments of up to $10,000 to help address recruitment challenges, reduce time-to-fill, and support operational continuity.
The incentives may be applied broadly to specific classifications within a department, school, or division — or narrowly to individual recruitments based on unique hiring needs. All incentive offerings must be approved prior to posting a job.
More details, including the program webpage, forms and guidance, will be shared at the October HR Forum. For questions, contact HR Talent Acquisition at staffrecruiting@unm.edu.
