Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take part in a large selection of new programs, training, and collaborative efforts designed to prepare you for a rapidly evolving technological landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, data-driven decision-making, and modern digital ecosystems. Register for Tech Days by April 17! Tech Days will be held on April 29 and 30 at the Student Union Building on UNM’s Main Campus.
This popular event offers University students, faculty, and staff an exclusive opportunity to learn about campus technologies and UNM’s Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative. This year, Tech Days will once again feature an OER track for educators interested in learning more about the work of the New Mexico Open Educational Resources Consortium (NMOER), piloted through the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences (CULLS).
New programming will help the campus community understand how AI works, how to use it responsibly, and how to shape institutional policies that reflect ethical, legal, and social considerations. We will have presentations on reward systems and decision-making frameworks, co-designed AI governance and policy development, secure, private AI systems, and practical applications such as AI-powered executive assistance.
These efforts underscore UNM’s belief that AI fluency is now a foundational skill for higher education. UNM is committed to responsible innovation, academic excellence, and equitable access to all emerging technologies.
Tech Days is also proud to present several hands-on sessions featuring UNM IT’s new ITSM tool, ServiceNow. These sessions will guide attendees on how to become more productive using the platform. In addition, if you have not yet completed your 2026 Mandatory Training, a workshop will be available at the Lobo Lab to help you get it done.
This year we are excited to announce a special presentation from the UNM Esports team at Tech Days! Enjoy a presentation by our Keynote Speaker, Bernardo J. Gallegos, who will present on Esports’ role in education. His presentation will address the fundamentals of community building and the importance of creating spaces where students can step forward as leaders, challenge themselves to reach new heights, and navigate the demands of their academic pursuit to learn more about teambuilding and leadership. Timothy Morlock and the Esports team will give a short demonstration of Esports gaming, followed by an opportunity for the audience to play Esports games and win prizes on the second day!
We will also feature presentations from our sponsors, who will have booths set up for your convenience. Be sure to stop by for a quick Q&A with the sponsors who help make Tech Days possible.
