May is National Bike Month, and with the warming spring weather, it’s a great time to get out for a bike ride. Cycling offers many physical and mental health benefits. Plus, it’s environmentally friendly and can reduce your carbon footprint. We hope you take advantage of the many resources to support your riding, whether it’s a social ride on the weekend or commuting to work on a bike.
Lobo Bike Shop
Get your bike in tip-top shape with discounted service at the Lobo Bike Shop in Johnson Center. They service all makes and models of bikes and have the knowledge and products to get you on your way. They even offer bike tune-up classes if you’d rather learn how to service your bike yourself.
PATS Bike Lockers
Parking and Transportation Services offers free-to-use bike racks all over campus. If you need added security, there are also many bike lockers throughout central and north campuses.
Bike Registration
For security and safety reasons, the UNM Police Department recommends that everyone register their bike. Registration is free and easy. Visit the UNM PD bike registration page for more information.
On-campus Showers
There are several shower facilities on campus that come in handy if your bike commute leaves you sweaty upon arrival. These facilities are free for faculty and staff to use, and some even have lockers available.
Albuquerque Cycling Maps
Check out the City of Albuquerque’s Bicycling information page. They have maps to help you find your best and safest routes for navigating the city.
