After an extensive review process, The University is pleased to announce changes to two University Administrative Policies! President Garnett Stokes has approved revisions to the Sick Leave policy (UAP 3410) and the Leave With Pay policy (UAP 3415) regarding bereavement, effective August 20.
The sick leave policy revision adds emotional and mental wellbeing as an authorized use of sick leave.
Starting August 20, eligible employees now have expanded bereavement leave benefits, increasing paid leave for bereavement to 5 working days. Revisions also allow the use of sick leave to extend bereavement leave and clarifies that bereavement leave may be taken intermittently.
Lastly, the changes clarify the definition of "immediate family," which now also includes cousins for the purpose of bereavement leave.
