ULead is a leadership development program designed to help uncover your innate abilities as a leader and learn more about how to positively influence those around you.
ULead is open to all UNM Staff. Having a supervisor or manager title and/or direct reports is not required.
There is no nomination process to register for ULead. The individual makes the decision about whether or not he/she wants to enroll.
Plan a conversation with your manager as soon as possible. He/she needs to know the level of commitment, energy, and time required, and the work effort involved. You and your manager should work together to determine if circumstances are right for you to participate at this time.
Once you’ve discussed ULead with your manager, please complete the registration application on the ULead home page. EOD will contact your supervisor with further information.
Due to workflow, departmental vacancies, etc., your manager may decide that now is not the right time for you to enroll in ULead. Because of the time commitment, we want to ensure you are able to fully commit to the program. Part of that requires the full support of your supervisor. ULead is offered twice per year, each year. We encourage you to ask your supervisor if there may be a better date in the future.
Although you may not be able to participate right now, we do offer a full range of leadership courses and resources offered through EOD. We encourage you to review our on-demand courses available via Learning Central, or review our Career Pathways program.
Because the sessions are built on a core vision of a cohort concept, attendance to all sessions is mandatory. It is unfair to other participants if others are missing sessions, arriving late, or leaving early. The content builds on itself, and work in small teams progresses steadily during these weeks.
If you are aware of conflicts with specific session dates, please do not register at this time. In cases of absence due to emergencies, please contact EOD immediately at eod@unm.edu.
In-person attendance to all sessions is required. However, most ULead activities will occur during those meeting times. Plan an additional hour in your week for prep-work and time that might be required for your group work.
ULead is a free program brought to you by Employee and Organizational Development (EOD), a department of Human Resources.
