It’s always important to consider your well-being from a holistic point of view, including your finances. National Retirement Security Month, coming in October, is an opportunity to think about your retirement goals and determine if you are on target or need to make some progress.
A new study from the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) says that 68 percent of us believe we can live comfortably in retirement, but only 21 percent of us feel very confident. Two-thirds of us are worried we won’t have enough money in retirement and workers who have a retirement plan or plans at work have significantly more money set aside. Only 3 out of 5 of us have a very good understanding of how our retirement plans actually work. And only 41 percent of us have calculated how much we and our spouses or significant others will likely need to cover healthcare expenses in retirement.
