UNM offers two dental plans through Delta Dental of New Mexico to all active benefits eligible employees.
Delta Dental PPO is a low cost option offering Delta Dental PPO Network dentists at the most discounted Maximum Approved Fees.
Delta Dental Premier, a higher cost option, gives you options to use the Delta Dental Premier Network and PPO Networks. This allows you to maximize the value of your dental coverage by choosing a Premier Network dentist who also participates in the PPO network.
Premier Network dentists who also participate in the PPO network have agreed to accept lower fees, making your out of pocket costs lower and adding value to your $1,500 annual maximum benefit.
Please note eligible Residents Physicians may only participate in the Delta’s Premier plan.

First, verify your eligibility.
Next, you may take advantage of these three enrollment opportunities:
Finally, if you are enrolling dependents, be prepared to provide “proof documentation”. Some Examples of Dependent Proof Documents are available here. Deadlines for submission of these documents vary in accordance with the enrollment opportunities listed above.
Note: If you separate from employment, termination of coverage will occur; however, you may elect to continue coverage in accordance with COBRA.
Make an appointment with your chosen dentist office, inform them you are a Delta Dental member, and provide your UNM Banner ID number (not your social security number).
Prescription ID Cards will be created for and mailed to the primary member by Delta Dental. All plan participants must use the card with the primary member’s name since dependents do not receive their own cards.
