A Salary Placement Review is a department-driven process designed to formally review a current employee’s salary when there are concerns that the employee’s salary level is inconsistent with their qualifications, specifically their education and job-related experience above the minimum qualifications of their position.
An employee must meet the following criteria to be eligible for a Salary Placement Review:
Departments requesting a Salary Placement Review must complete a Salary Placement Review Form, which includes background information and the business justification for the request. Once the form is complete and has received the necessary approvals, submit the Salary Placement Review Request Form to HR Compensation at comp@unm.edu. A final review will be conducted by HR Compensation and all salary adjustments resulting from the review must be approved in advance by HR.
At the discretion of the department, an employee may receive a salary adjustment upon completion of the Salary Placement Review. Please refer to the Salary Determination and Internal Equity for Staff Employees Guidelines for guidance on pay increases and internal equity reviews. Salary increases above the recommended Salary Placement and Equity Tool (SPET) range are not permitted.
For bargaining unit employees please refer to the appropriate union bargaining agreement.
