Commit to healthful foods at the department level. Include the following statement in your department or division's statement of purpose to formally establish that healthy behaviors are valued in your workplace:
[Department Name] commits to the wellness of our employees by including healthful food options at all catered events. We provide opportunities to make healthy eating decisions by encouraging the selection of fresh, wholesome foods, recognizing special dietary needs, and supporting sustainable practices.
At all department events that include food, we will:
- Include healthful food choices.
- Offer fresh fruit and vegetable options.
- Support special dietary needs by identifying and labeling foods.
- Actively work with vendors to make informed decisions in providing the healthiest food options possible.
- Ensure food is handled, prepared, and stored in accordance with food safety guidelines.
Label Foods for Special Restrictions
Some of your attendees may have food restrictions, such as lactose intolerance, celiac disease, or peanut allergies. Don't leave their health to chance - label your foods, clearly indicating what foods are safe to eat.
Ask your caterer for labels, or print and use our sample labels.
